Honourable Company Trust News
Words from the Warden
Chris Gaskell
The Honourable Company of Gloucestershire’s Charitable Trust Fund is a major component of the Company’s work ‘for Gloucestershire’. The chair of the Trust, Sir Henry Elwes, will present the annual report of the Trust at the Company’s AGM on the 10th of November, but we thought members would be interested to see some of the feedback from charities that have received grants in the latest round of awards made in September. These are just current examples; in all the Trust has made more than 150 grants since its formation in 2012, its charitable giving worth over £200K to the County. In the current climate the needs are only likely to grow, a theme Jamie Tabor, Chair of the Gloucestershire Community Foundation (GCF), will doubtless take up when he speaks after the AGM.
Hence this ‘extra’ Members’ newsletter, which also provides an opportunity to thank Sir Henry, the other Trustees and the Trust secretary, Margaret Fuller, for all their work for the Charitable Trust and for the County. As you will see it is very much appreciated, and crucially, makes a difference.
If members know of a charity or group they feel would benefit from our support, please let them know about the Trust. Details of the its wide remit, together with guidance on how to make an application are available on the website (https://www.honcoglos.org/about/the-trust.html) . It is important that we make the availability of grants from the Trust known to the whole community of Gloucestershire, and our membership is an important way to do that. And please contact the Company or the Trust if you have any queries or would like to make an additional donation; it is your Trust.
