Online Church Directory Gets An Update

With the on-line directory you can always have your directory with you!
Ever see someone in church and not know their name? The online directory is a great way to put a name to a face. And, the St. Philip's Online Church Directory has recently been updated!

The Directory can be viewed on a computer by clicking this link: and following the prompts either under "Sign In"(for those who have already created a login) or "Create A Login Now" (for those logging in for the first time). You will need to use your email address as listed in our directory to create a log-in the first time you use the directory. For security purposes first time users will need to confirm your email address before logging in.

You can also access the directory on a mobile phone or tablet. A free mobile app is available for download at the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and the Amazon Fire App Store. Simply search for "Instant Church Directory" to get the download.

Fr. Mike's Discretionary Fund

A means for helping those in need in our community and beyond.
Fr. Mike's Discretionary Fund is one of the ways he is able to handle the immediate pastoral needs both inside and outside the parish. Your generous gifts to this fund have helped with utilities, medical care, a safe place to stay, bus tickets, food and other temporary emergencies. St. Philip's has helped many in need over the years. And, as you can imagine, the needs are great and ever present. The Rector's Discretionary fund is low and in need of funds to help meet the needs. If you would like to make a donation, checks can be made payable to the "Rector's Discretionary Fund" and dropped off in the church office or in the offering plate on Sunday mornings.

Thank you for your assistance, care, and compassion.

Volunteers Needed for UCISD's Chain Reaction

Replacing Bullying and Violence with Kindness and Respect.
For the 2nd year UCISD is doing its part to help create a school climate less susceptible to harassment, bullying, and violence by offering a three day program called Chain Reaction for all freshman students. This program is a part of Rachel's Challenge and is designed to draw students together, break down barriers and influence students to make changes. Students respond to the day's challenges with self-reflection and the acknowledgement of personal responsibility.

This program relies on volunteers from the community to help facilitate the three-day event, which will be held at the Fairplex on October 1, 2, and 3. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Beverly Heyen or the church office.

In order to volunteer you must:
  • attend a UCISD volunteer orientation,
  • be able to commit to a full day, 8:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.,
(Note: you do not have to commit to all three days.)
  • and you must be willing to participate in mild physical activities with the students.
UCISD orientation dates are Sept. 18 at Noon or 6:00 p.m., or Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the UCISD District Office. Click here to learn more about Rachel's Challenge.  - Beverly Heyen

Pet Blessings Move to Bark in the Park!

Love is a four legged word!

St. Philip’s will participate in our 2nd Annual Pet Blessing at Bark in the Park on October 5 at Memorial Park. Opening ceremonies will start at 9:00 a.m. and the blessing of pets will begin immediately after and continue until noon. Bring your pets and your family and join us, along with the Humane Society, in a day to celebrate and honor our four legged friends. There will be vendors, costumes, contests, and of course pets.

Last year, we estimate that over 75 pets were blessed. It’s wonderful to see such a blessed event expand out into the community and we hope to attract even more pets this year.  Hope to see you there. - Kelley Kimble
