Supplies to Succeed

Let's Stuff the Bus!
This year St. Philip's is one of the drop off locations for annual stuff the bus campaign for Uvalde C.I.S.D. Your donations of school supplies will ensure that all kids in Uvalde will begin school with the right tools to succeed!

So when you are at the grocery store, dollar store, pharmacy, Wal-Mart, or any place where school supplies are sold, pick up a few school supplies and help "Stuff the Bus" and get our Uvalde kids off to a great start when they return to school in August.

Jennifer Williams is working with the school district on this project. If you have any questions Jennifer can be contacted by email

Take the Next Step in Your Faith Journey

Two Classes Begin Soon for Adults and Youth.
Fr. Mike will be holding classes for those wanting to be confirmed, or those who are just looking to deepen their faith and understanding of the Episcopal Church. Two new classes will begin in August. One for adults and one for our youth (8th -12th grade). Although these classes are required to receive the sacrament of confirmation, anyone can attend these classes. This is a great opportunity to strengthen your faith and learn more about the Episcopal Church. Those wishing to be baptized, confirmed, or received into the Episcopal Church will do so on Sunday, October 13th, the date of our annual Bishop's visit.

On Sunday, July 28, at the 10:30 service, those who want to be baptized, confirmed, or received will be recognized and blessed for the journey on which they are embarking.

Adult Classes will meet on Sundays after church from 12:00 - 2:00 for class and lunch on the following dates:
August 4, 11, 18
September 8, 15, 22

Youth Classes* will meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30 - 7:30 for class and dinner on the following dates:
August 4, 11, 18
September 8, 15, 22
*Youth class is for anyone in the 8th - 12th grade.

Please let the church office know if you plan to attend the classes so that we have plenty of food. If you have questions or want to learn more about becoming a member of St. Philips through confirmation, baptism or reception, please contact Fr. Mike.

Texas Bishops Issue Statement on Border Conditions

Calling on state and national leaders to take action.

[June 8, 2019 ] Bishops of all six Episcopal dioceses in Texas issue a joint statement decrying the inhumane conditions at our country's borders. They call on state and national leaders to take action.

"We write to decry the conditions in detention centers at our border because we are Christians, and Jesus is unequivocal. We are to pray without ceasing for everyone involved-refugees, elected officials, and law enforcement-while also advocating for the humane treatment of the human beings crowding our border as they flee the terror and violence of their home countries.

We call on our state and national leaders to reject fear-based policy-making that targets people who are simply seeking safety, and a chance to live and work in peace. The situation at the border is, by all accounts, a crisis. Refugees come in desperation; border personnel are under stress.

We call on our leaders to trust in the goodness, generosity and strength of our nation. God has blessed us with great abundance. With it comes the ability and responsibility to bless others.  Read the Full Statement Here->>

Drivers Needed on Sunday Mornings

We have parishioners who are no longer driving but would like to come to church!
Most of us probably remember the delightful movie "Driving Miss Daisy" with Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy. A simple act of driving someone who could no longer drive blossomed and grew into a lifetime friendship. Imagine how it must feel to have depended on yourself to get to the places you want to go for many years - to suddenly realize that driving yourself may not be the best option for you anymore. We have several parishioners who find themselves in this situation and we would like to help.

If you would be willing to help with transportation for someone on Sunday mornings, or for other church functions, who is not able to safely transport themselves, please call Fr. Mike in the church office.

No one should miss church because they don't have a ride.
Let's help get our fellow parishioners to church on Sunday.

Fr. Mike's Class Will Not Meet this Sunday

Class will resume on Sunday, July 21st.
