Christmas Angel Opportunities
St. Philip's has been asked by Bluebonnet (Casa) to help provide gifts for 98 children who are in foster care. They are asking that we provide each child a $25.00 gift card to Walmart. We had an overwhelming response last week but we do have a few Angels left. Call Julie in the church office (278-5223) if you would like to help.

Children's Christmas Pageant
Once again the children of St. Philip's will present the Christmas story at our 5:00 Christmas Eve Service. Children of all ages are invited and welcome to participate. Please text or call Becky Capt 275-2894 and let her know if your children will be participating.

Christmas Open House at the Rectory - Please join us!

Greening of the Church, Taizé Set Up, and Soup Lunch!
This Sunday immediately following the 10:30 service everyone is invited to stay for a quick soup lunch and then begin greening the church and setting up for the Taizé service. Bring your work clothes and plan to stay and help!

Need a Special Gift for Someone You Love?
Looking for the perfect gift for someone who doesn't need anything? Consider a donation to one of St. Philip's ministries in honor of that special person. The cards can be purchased for whatever amount you wish to give. The cards will be available on Sunday and in the church office during the week.

We have cards available for the following ministries:
  • The Open Table is a ministry of friendship and mentoring. A group of volunteers commit to meet weekly for a year with the same person to help her or him plan and build a better life.
  • Philip’s Closet serves as a resource to individuals and social service agencies in Uvalde by providing free clothing, shoes, and household items. When needed items are not in stock they are purchased.
  • Uvalde Lamplighters is a new ministry in Uvalde that was started at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. Lamplighters are working to relieve loneliness in the elderly by offering opportunities to connect with others and participate in social gatherings once a month.
  • St. Philip's Episcopal School - A Christian School providing education for children 3k - 4th grade.
  • The Rector’s Discretionary Fund is used by Fr. Mike to assist with pastoral needs in the congregation and Uvalde such as rent, utilities, medical and pharmacy bills, emergency housing or transportation.
  • The Uvalde Food Pantry - The local food pantry serving the hungry in Uvalde.
Slow Down. Quiet. It's Advent!
23 days to make room in your life for Jesus!
The 2018 Advent Calendar Posters are now available to pick up in the church office.  The calendars are free - one per family. The calendar offers ideas for prayer, helping others, and being thoughtful about the true meaning of Christmas.

New Book -Wrestling with God by: Ronald Rolheiser
Join Fr. Mike's book study class on Sundays at 9:15. The class is an informal discussion of what we read, an opportunity to ask questions, a time to think new thoughts, and the invitation to step into a deeper life. The books are now available in the church office. The cost is $15. The class is open to everyone. If this is your first time, welcome. If you have been to previous book studies, welcome back. Everyone is invited and all are welcome.

Pledge Cards are Due!
If you have not yet turned in your pledge card, please do so as soon as possible. Pledge cards can be dropped off at the church office or put in the collection plate on Sundays. If you have already returned your card - thank you! Even if you do not intend to pledge, please turn in a pledge card to let us know. The vestry has begun work on the budget and knowing your commitment to support the life of the church is essential

Taizé Service - This Sunday!
What a great way to slow down and celebrate the season of Advent.  Invite your friends - and come to the Taizé service this Sunday, December 9th at 6:00 p.m.

It's Poinsettia Time
Each year we adorn our beautiful church with poinsettias for the Christmas Eve service. If you wish to give a poinsettia in honor or memory of someone special, please fill out the form (found in the bulletin on Sunday) and return it to the church office or call Julie in the church office (278-5223) and give her the information by phone. Donations in any amount are welcome to offset the cost of the poinsettias.

God calls St. Philip’s to be a public face of Christ and to offer all people concrete ways to participate in the mystery of God. St. Philip’s responds to God’s call by:
+ Reflecting the beauty of holiness in our sacred spaces and worship;
+ Being a catalyst in our region for collaborative ministries that care for people in need;
+ Providing transformative experiences for people in our region through teaching and practices of Christian formation; and
+ Appreciating the uniqueness of each person and nurturing and supporting their relationship with God.

Forward to a Friend.
Invite them to church!
