In 2016, Olivia Downs formed the Connect4Cancer Club at Marlboro High School in an effort to provide her generation with a voice in the Cancer community. She lost both her grandmother & grandfather to Cancer and strives to be a strong voice for all the people affected by this disease.
During their first year, teens from 9th-12th grade came together to work towards raising awareness for Pediatric Cancer. They wrote over 515 holiday letters for the “Make-A-Wish” foundation which raised over $1,000. Early in the year, C4C partnered up with The Mya Lin Terry Foundation to volunteer with various events. They collected toiletry items for "Mommy Bags" that were delivered to various hospitals, to parents whose children were receiving treatment. C4C also volunteered at “Mya's 4th Annual Warrior Jam” in Lake Como, NJ to help raise money for Pediatric Cancer. The members brought smiles to children that day by helping with face painting and temporary tattoos.
Connect4Cancer MHS will continue to do even more this upcoming school year, in an effort to raise more money and awareness to this disease.
