Q&A Series:

Stories of lives changed.

We recently shared a few stories from our donors about the ways effective giving has enriched their lives and the steps they have taken to incorporate effective giving into their lifestyles. Now we want to share a few stories from our beneficiaries about how your donations have impacted their lives and helped improve their livelihood.

On behalf of all those whose lives have changed because of your actions — thank you!! Here are some of their stories.

The Fred Hollows Foundation
Seven-year old Cam lives with her mother Hoa and father Nhat, 25km outside Quang Ngai city in Vietnam. She’d been blind for four years with congenital cataract. A few years ago, Cam’s brother Quoc also had cataract, and the family spent all of their money restoring his sight. When Hoa realised her daughter had the same problem, she found herself unable to eat or sleep properly.

Building a Future for Good

Estate planning is an important task that many of us put off year after year. But writing a will doesn’t have to be overwhelming — in fact, it’s an opportunity to create a legacy that will strengthen communities and do good, forever.

The Life You Can Save has partnered with FreeWill to help our community write a legal will for free using this online tool. And by creating a gift in your plans, you can support the organizations you love, and ensure that the causes you care about have the resources they need to thrive — for years to come.

Stock Donations for Good

Donating stock is a powerful way to make an impact. The stock market has been trending upwards, reaching highs in early April. But the market is volatile, and trends can change at any moment. Donating stocks today ensures you can take advantage of these highs, and give the powerful gift you intend.

By donating stock rather than selling it, you will avoid paying a capital gains tax and if you donate a long-term holding and itemize deductions, you can also take a charitable deduction for the entire donation.

Please reach out to Angela Kalayjian for more information.

Upcoming Event

Celebrate Mother’s Day by joining our panel discussion with Sara Tollefson (Director of Impact, Equalize Health) and Molly Christiansen (Director of Global Program Strategy and Impact, Living Goods), moderated by Charlie Bresler (Board Member, The Life You Can Save), as they discuss maternal and newborn health and why it is an area where one can do the most good for the world.
