Some members of the Collective Black People
Movement (CBPM) and other 
Garveyites in Atlanta, Georgia, has given birth to one of the newest Divisions of the Universal Negro Improvement Association – African Community Leagues (UNIA-ACL).  The Dr. Julius Nyerere/CBPM UNIA-ACL Division 421 was formed in July 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia.  Dr. Julius Nyerere founded the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) in 1954.  When Tanganyika attained independence from the British colonial rule, Dr. Julius Nyerere brought Tanganyika and Zanzibar into a union thus becoming the first president of the United Republic of Tanzania...

The story of educator and humanitarian Mary Smith Peake (pictured) is most certainly known to students of Virginia’s Hampton University, considering much of her tale unfolded on the grounds of the historically black academic institution. On September 16th 1937, Negro League Baseball Player Orlando Cepeda was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Orlando “Peruchin – The Baby Bull” Cepeda, son of legendary Puerto Rican baseball star Pedro Perucho “The Bull” Cepeda, signed by Pete Zorilla in 1955 for Santurce Baseball Club. That same year, he went to a tryout held by the New York Giants and signed for $500.00. In the Minor Leagues he played with Salem, Kokomo, St. Cloud, and Minneapolis. Cepeda was only 20 years old when he arrived to the Major Leagues in 1958... Enter Here
