Corsham Walking Festival - Annual General Meeting

A final reminder that we will be holding our Annual General Meeting at 1930 on Thursday 5 October 2017 in The Methuen Arms, Corsham.

As I explained in last months newsletter, the proposed Constitution sets out the membership arrangements for the Corsham Walking Festival - with members being known as Friends.  Membership is free and is open to everybody.  Anybody involved in the organisation of previous Walking Festivals has been added to the initial list of Friends.and should have received a separate email last week confirming their status.

As a Friend you will help set the direction of the Corsham Walking Festival - and elect the Committee at the AGM.  You can expect to receive a few extra emails each year - usually when we are seeking volunteers to help over the Festival weekend, however most communication will continue to take place via the monthly newsletter.

If you wish to become a Friend (or change your contact details), all you need to do is click on the
update subscription preferences link which appears at the end of every newsletter and then select that you would like to be a Friend of Corsham Walking Festival.

Walking Opportunities

The Corsham area provides walking opportunities all year round - whether self guided or with a local group.  The Corsham Bookshop and the Tourist Information Centre in Corsham High Street both have a small selection of booklets of local walks available for purchase and in addition there are a number of on line resources.

If you would like to walk with a local group then details can be found on the Visit Corsham website or downloaded here.  You are sure to receive a warm welcome.  If you do not walk regularly with the relevant group, it is advisable to contact them beforehand so they are aware of likely numbers on the walk.

Walkers Are Welcome

The Walkers are Welcome update for September contains news about the AGM and from around the Walkers are Welcome network.  If you have ever walked along the beautiful Wye valley, you might like to support the petition to adopt the disused railway line between Tintern and Chepstow as a shared use path.  From personal experience this would seem to be a very good idea as currently paths are limited in the area!

Hope to see you at the AGM or on a walk soon.
