GDPR - The Last Word (Honest!)

I apologise for the plethora of emails on the subject of GDPR over the last month.  Ahead of the 25th May implementation date, the guidance for organisations such as the Corsham Walking Festival has been confusing to say the least - leading us to seek your consent to continue to receive these newsletters.  I am extremely grateful to all those who responded to the request.

Various articles in the press now suggest that we can adopt a "soft opt-in" approach - on the basis that you are receiving this newsletter because you either (a) have walked with a previous Walking Festival or (b) have asked to be put on our mailing list.  For that reason, I am continuing to send this newsletter to everybody on our mailing list.  If you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, then you can unsubscribe using the link at the foot of this email.

Festival 2018

It looks like Festival 2018 will be our most popular ever with a record number of people booked for walks.  The Festival will be opened tomorrow by the Chair of Corsham Town Council - Councillor Steve Abbott - who will wave off the first walk at 1315.  All Friday walks are fully booked, however there are still spaces available on both the Saturday and Sunday - although the position is changing daily!

For the latest availability and to book tickets, go to the Corsham Walking Festival website or contact The Pound Arts Centre (Tel 01249 701628) during normal box office hours.  A reminder that all methods of booking will close at 1400 the day before the relevant walk

Those who have booked tickets should have received a separate email earlier this week with advice and tips.

Walking Opportunities

The Corsham area provides walking opportunities all year round - whether self guided or with a local group.  The Corsham Bookshop and the Tourist Information Centre in Corsham High Street both have a small selection of booklets of local walks available for purchase and in addition there are a number of on line resources.

A number of national and local groups walk regularly in Corsham and the surrounding area and welcome new walkers.  If you do not walk regularly with the relevant group, it is advisable to contact them beforehand so they are aware of likely numbers on the walk.  More information - including contact details - can be found on the Corsham Walking Festival website or downloaded here
