November 2014

President's Letter

A progress report sometimes shows the good the bad and the ugly. Let’s start with the good. We have a new updated guideline for scholarship. We are in process and ready for jurying our first open internet exhibition. We are finishing our selection for an executive position to move us forward in administration. The programs for our Salon Series has been set through 2015 and our gain in new wonderful members has increased. We are also beginning conversations with other arts organizations for considering forming a coalition which would help all participating groups strengthen arts groups ability to hire staff and help with marketing and exhibitions. Our scholarship program has expanded to include a broader area of art students in the area. The mentoring program is working well on its initial actions.

An area for growth is increasing membership at a stronger pace. Another is proactive membership activity. Only about 25% of entries from the open juried show were PSG members.

There is no ugly to this report. Shifting back to the good. For those who have been participating in the groups activities, there was working and playing and sharing art experiences and getting new members, working on tasks. These were activities that are both enriching and rewarding to the group and each member. This enthusiasm and energy was evident in the Salon Series, the meetings and our image in the public.
What is good for you is good for the group.
What is good for the group is good for you.

Phillip Levine
PSG Board President
