Dear Summer Readers,

The UCPL Adult Summer Reading Program is just around the corner! As our longtime Summer Reading participants know, we usually challenge ourselves to read a single "big book" or pair of books over the course of the summer (for example, our readers have taken on War and PeaceDon QuixoteNovels and Stories of Zora Neale Hurston, The Earthseed Duology, and others). However, given the Library's mid-renovation situation and the online environment we're still living in, we're switching things up in 2022.
This year, we're taking the opportunity to highlight and tie together our three monthly book groups to focus on Secrets of the Deep, and explore the ways in which reading can unearth the secrets of both the ocean and our deepest psyche, through classics, contemporary fiction and non-fiction, and science fiction and fantasy books.
That’s right: we're offering up discussions of NINE separate titles this summer, across a variety of genres. We hope you’ll read, discuss, and cheer on your fellow readers with us all summer. Here's the basic schedule:

You’ll need a UCPL card to check out the books, but otherwise we welcome readers near and far. So please feel free to forward this message to any friends or family who would also be interested.
To help us get an idea of the number of books and materials we'll need, we'd be grateful if you could complete this (very) brief RSVP.
And finally, we would be remiss if we didn't add our thanks to the Library Services and Technology Act, which is appropriated by Congress and Administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Missouri Secretary of State, which makes this program possible.
    We'll see you very soon!
