Pint & Politics - last Tuesday...

As expected we had a good turn out and a few lively discussions too; some subjects covered were: "how LGBT friendly is the Cabinet and the Party?", should Jeremy Hunt be in the Cabinet, how can we get Mark Spencer and other local MP's to do more for us in Nottingham, also should we focus on getting our MP's elected rather than on the City Council where we have little chance of changing things with two councillors versus 50 of them?

We discussed "bodies on the ground" and how we needed to get some more active people on board, particularly if an election looms, the idea of Community Champions (shadow councillors) was also discussed and ways of better engaging with people and making it easier for them to get in touch (note some new links now on our newsletter!)

Finally we discussed which taxes needed cutting or reforming, including a discussion about VAT and inheritance tax but the final thoughts were on Foreign Aid - which became lively!

Later this month on Tuesday 20th August we're back in the private room at the Laguna on Mount Street which is opposite the Mount Street NCP for parking and is also access-friendly via its own ground floor front door and loo so we can help if you need assistance to get in.

The Pints are served for us at table and food is available from the Indian menu but if you want your favourite English dish laid on then let us know in advance and we'll accommodate it.

The Politics will be via our debate so bring some suggestions along or email them in if you can't be there and expect a raffle too; any queries email:
Nick Max at KEC Office

As usual if anyone would like to suggest a change of venue then we'll take a look at it!
Community Champions

As discussed at Pint & Politics and in last week's newsletter, we need some Community Champions, in effect shadow councillors, across the whole of the city. If you live or are close to the people in one of the council wards we need to enlist you to become our designated community champion and start engaging with people - NOW!

Apart from our needing to target the 55 City Council seats you will know that all of our three Parliamentary constituency areas, Nottingham North, Nottingham South and Nottingham East have sitting MPs that are not Conservative and our Constituency Officers (above) are elected and ready to help us to roll this strategy out.

Please think about becoming a shadow councillor and give us a shout, we need some volunteers now and our Constituency Officers, Alfie Pryor, Paul Ruane and Bradley Wing will be coordinating things in your area. So get in touch and let's get moving:

Making Our Voice Heard

As usual a reminder that one of the best ways to make our Conservative voice heard and start to make a difference is to use Social Media, such as Facebook and Twitter, so please...

Look us up online and get in touch via our main pages here:

And as always if you have any suggestions or ideas then please let us know!
Our Offices...

We've city centre offices that benefit us all but we still need a little help to keep them going and make them better... so can you help?

We're trying to get a team together for a tidy up; it'll be mainly clearing out and hitting that shredder plus a few hands to keep the kettle going! Any takers please for Saturday 10th August at 11am - meeting at KEC, parking onsite?
