Pint & Politics was interesting...
Our first Pint & Politics was on Tuesday at the lovely Laguna Restaurant and there was a slight clash with the Pint & Politics in Gedling the next day so we'll try and avoid that in future. We had a few new faces and I think the discussions were lively to say the least and helped along by cold Cobra beer and an excellent meal from Tony and his staff for those eating.
The dreaded "B" subject crept in and despite having both sides represented amongst us it did not dominate our debates. We covered some local issues around city council funding and how local councillors behaved with council money; one of our own councillors could have helped greatly here and so I'll try and ensure that we can grab one for next time!
Also debated was the impact to local areas of the trend towards Air B and B and how family homes and flats are being turned into hotel rooms or hostels without planning permission or any care from the council about the impact - another one that our councillors can pick up on!
The current leadership contest was the Big One of the night, the underlying mood being one of real anger towards the Prime Minister, the candidates, and "head office" that have all conspired, and I quote, to "unbelievably allow, even promote, weeks and weeks of Blue on Blue".
It's a thought, it was a debate and maybe it'll be heard elsewhere; anyway we finished late and even dumped the raffle this time so here's to the next one! If you have any suggestions for the next venue please give us a call, text us or email Holly.
What's Happening in Nottingham? Well you will have seen that something is happening in the Market Square this weekend and we've found out that it's not an early start for the usual beach but Nottingham BOWL-UP which is about family fun, music, food and cricket of course seeing as we're all cricket mad now.
More details on the posters or follow the link here: https://bowlupcricket.com/nottingham but it starts on Saturday at 9am and goes on all day, remember it will be HOT though! This is being promoted by our city partners such as Visit Notts, Marketing NG, Invest in Nottingham and Nottingham Partners, let's get out there supporting Nottingham and helping it to be great!
Getting Your Voice Heard - social media
I know we keep on about it but one of the best ways to make our Conservative voice heard is to show people that we are here and show that we have a voice and that it's a voice that cares about this city, so...
If you use social media please look us up and get in touch on:
PLUS if you are a social media guru and have suggestions or ideas then please let us know!
Finally, can you help...
We have good city centre offices: do you ever need a meeting room or temporary office space - and with parking?
We are looking to maximise the use we get from our building at King Edward Court and are looking for ideas from party members that may be of mutual benefit to us. This would be on flexible light commercial terms.
AND can you help? We are looking to further upgrade our facilities, we need a small fridge (no freezer) and spare hands for a tidy up, could this be you?
Email us or get in touch with Nick Max on 07973 611477.
