Choice adds three hotels to Ascend Collection
TORONTO – Choice Hotels Canada has added three new properties to its Ascend Collection — Calabogie Peaks near Ottawa, the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg and Hotel Penticton in Penticton, B.C. Ascend now has 22 hotels, adding seven in 2019 and five so far this year.
DESIGN: Harmony Event Centre unveiled 
OSHAWA, Ont. — Harmony Event Centre anchors two Marriott hotels, a Courtyard and a TownePlace Suites. Royal Design was hired by owner Sunray Hotels to design the space so that it could host weddings, conferences, galas, trade shows and meetings. The property also has some innovative lighting features.

STR Canada results week of August 1, 2020
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — STR data for 26 July through 1 August 2020 shows a continued steady rise in Canada’s hotel performance but the same significant level of year-over-year declines. On the positive side, nation-wide occupancy is now at 38.4 per cent, compared to a low of 12.0 per cent for the week of April 11, 2020.

Canada's hotel pipeline expands year over year
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — According to analysts at Lodging Econometrics (LE), Canada’s hotel construction pipeline continued to expand at the close of Q2 2020 with 296 projects/ or 39,645 rooms. The construction pipeline is up 8 per cent by projects and 11 per cent by rooms, year-over-year.
