COURTENAY, B.C. — Bayview Hotel Group is owned by the Smith family, who acquired the brand new property in Courtenay, on Vancouver Island, in 2009. The Courtenay property spent 10 years as a Holiday Inn Express, but at the end of the license, the family decided to go independent. Here's why.

CHF launches Red Door Scholarship Program
TORONTO — The Canadian Hospitality Foundation (CHF) held its first Red Door Gala at Hotel X on Feb. 29. While the CHF has been around since 1962, this is the first year Restaurants Canada has taken over the event.
