Hilton announces Canadian expansion plans
TORONTO — Canada is seeing an upswing in tourism and Hilton is planning on capitalizing by adding more hotels from some of their newer brands – Canopy by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Tru by Hilton — as well as all-suites, full-service and focused-service brands. Jeff Cury reports that Hilton Canada has nearly 70 hotels in the pipeline.

AmEx GBT: Canadian meetings data for 2020
TORONTO — AmEx GBT reports that overall budgets for meetings in North America are expected to rise only moderately in 2020: by 1.8 per cent in the U.S. and by just over 0.7 per cent in Canada. This may be because meetings cost more in Canada, with respondents expecting to spend $789 per person at higher-cost events, compared to American respondents who predicted a cost of $685 per day.
