Motto by Hilton: innovation in 163-sq.-ft. rooms
MCLEAN, Va. — Motto by Hilton is half hostel and half hotel, with features like interconnected, flexible rooms that make it suitable for connected travellers who can handle smaller rooms in return for a unique experience in a top location. It's great for, but not limited to intergenerational travellers.
 
Tame dragons and innovative designs
Designers Harry Christakis and Jocelyn Malcolm were asked to pitch their recommendations for a $15,000 and $20,000/room overhaul to two "dragons" at a Western Canadian Lodging Conference session. Their designs showed innovation and creativity, and even though the show was supposed to mimic popular TV show, The Dragon's Den, these dragons weren't too critical of the designs!
Hotels find alternatives to bottles and straws
IHG will remove all plastic straws from its global network of hotels by the end of next year, and sustainability-minded hotels are finding alternatives to single-use plastic bottles, including reusable bottles and water stations.

Canada gets its first St. Regis luxury hotel
TORONTO — St. Regis Hotels and Resorts announced the highly anticipated opening of The St. Regis Toronto on Nov. 28, marking the iconic luxury brand's debut in Canada. Owned by Innvest, the landmark hotel is set to elevate Toronto's luxury hospitality landscape.
