Options options options
Happy New Year and welcome to our first newsletter of 2016. I'm Mitesh, the Founder of Success at School and I've taken the liberty of writing our first newsletter so that I could thank you personally for helping last year become a huge success for us. We are looking forward to bringing you more great advice this year and hope 2016 is even better for you. There are some exciting new developments on our side, so watch this space. Back on topic, this term is hugely important for a lot of students; there is the UCAS deadline, mocks and many students will be deciding on their GCSE and A-Level subject options, all of which can be quite daunting. There is a lot to fit in!
Here are 5 quick steps to help with option choices:
- List out all your subject options and rank them by how much you enjoy studying them and how good you are at them.
- Find out more about the subjects you can study and where they could lead you using our subject by subject guide. Or check out our interactive subject infographics.
- Go to our career zones section and investigate careers that interest you. Check if they have any specific subject requirements. Note them down and see how they compare to the subjects you like and are good at.
- Ask for some face to face advice to talk through your findings. For a quick question, why not post to one of the independent advisers on our careers forum.
- Whether it's choosing GCSE options, understanding facilitating subjects or deciding whether A-Levels are right for you, make informed choices based on your research. There are no right or wrong answers in this process, just make sure that you enjoy what you study and you keep your career options open.
You can download a homework sheet to help you through the process of choosing your options from our resource centre.
It's always good to look at your career choices but for those who have UCAS deadlines and mocks, we've got two must read articles for you below.
