On March 17, 2023 Dr.Padela was selected to give the 21st annual David Larson Memorial lecture at Duke University. This endowed lecture is named in honor of David B. Larson, a leader in the field of religion and health research. Dr. Padela is the first Muslim to have been awarded this honor and be added to the list of the 'who's who' in religion and health research. Dr. Padela's lecture was titled, "An Islamic Reflection on Health, Healing, and Moral Dimensions of Biomedicine." It focused on aspects of pietistic cosmology that shape Islamic world view on biomedicine and healthcare.
On March 14, 2023, IIM's board member Dr. Sondos virtually presented to Virginia Commonwealth University's Department of Emergency Medicine's residents and faculty about "Muslim patients care and factors impacting their health."
