We know you're limited on the number of field trips you take. That's why we think your next one should be great!

6 Reasons Teachers and Students Love Outdoor Lakeview

1. No one goes home thinking the bus ride was the best part. Granted, kids love a good field trip bus ride. They're out of the classroom for a day that requires signed parental permission, they're wearing special field trip shirts and ball caps, and lunch won't take place in the school cafeteria. But we believe the excitement of a field trip should build, not drop off, when students step off the bus. Lakeview's outdoor education programs promise to be everyone's favorite memory of the day.

2. Key educational concepts are learned...and we never even mention the STAAR. Sometimes the most effective teaching takes place when students don't know it's happening. The academic goals of Lakeview Outdoor Learning are top priority; we just happen to accomplish them in especially fun and creative ways.

3. You get what you ask for. Our programs are customizable. If you want your day's curriculum to cover orienteering, American history, and water studies, that's what your students will learn. If you want them to gain knowledge about the food chain, animal traits, niches, and macro invertebrates, our classes will center on those topics. The only thing we won't compromise is our commitment to provide energetic, hands-on, interactive lessons that engage students in positively effective ways.

3. It's not just the outdoor ed staff that has energy. With facilities that accommodate up to 1100 people at once, we work hard to make sure the feel of summer camp happens year round. Our hosting team takes care of the individual needs of every group. Maintenance, accommodations, and office staff can be seen cheering and welcoming buses as they arrive on property. And the dining hall staff has been known to double as a pot and pan rhythm band. Wherever you find yourself on campus, you will find friendly and energetic staff members who are devoted to making your experience great, beginning to end.

4. Our extras are like bonus points - everyone loves them! Most field trip venues offer a limited scope of activities and purpose. That's absolutely not true here. In addition to the academic knowledge and skills that are gained at Lakeview Outdoor Learning, groups can choose to include activities that teach character education, team-building, problem solving, and relational skills. Students can enjoy unique and varied recreational options like:

  • archery tag
  • the jumping pillow
  • crate stacking
  • a skate park
  • paintball
  • human foosball
  • a ropes challenge course
  • swimming
  • lake activities
  • disc golf
  • the Gaga pit
  • 9-square in the air
  • sport fields
  • and more

5. Outdoors, learning comes to life. We don't show pictures in textbooks or on screens; we expose students to science and history through direct experiences in nature. It's hands-on, inquiry based learning in a real-world setting that recognizes and celebrates different learning styles.

6. You return to the classroom ahead, not behind. With all you have to accomplish, every minute matters. We will never undervalue or misuse your time, and aim to prove Lakeview Outdoor Learning as the broadest, most beneficial use of your field trip choices.
