What transport challenges are businesses facing? Your views please!

Businesses across the Marches are being invited to highlight the challenges they face with transporting goods across the region ahead of a new Freight Strategy being developed for the Marches.

A survey has been launched by the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership to enable it to develop a better understanding of the issues facing the transport network.

It follows the publication of the Marches LEP report last year, ‘Investing in Strategic Transport Corridors’, that set out its plan to tackle transport issues that posed a threat to economic growth. If you have a few minutes please complete the online Marches Freight Survey.

The Government is asking for views on its new industrial strategy, which it says will deliver a high-skilled, competitive economy that benefits people throughout the UK. If you'd like to know more, you can watch the short video below, or take a look at the GREEN PAPER and take part in the consultation HERE
Job-creating investment a direct result of land deal

Automotive parts supplier Polytec Group is to build an additional manufacturing site at the T54 technology park. The new facility will be constructed over three phases.

The first phase will create as many as 100 jobs at Plots Two and Three of T54 at Junction 4 of the M54.

The development is a direct result of the Land Deal between the HCA and Telford & Wrekin Council, secured as part of the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Deal. The firm is a leading developer and manufacturer of high quality plastic parts, a full service provider in the field of injection moulding and a specialist in fibre-reinforced plastics supply. Read more...

Plans for new £12m road revealed

The Oxon Link Road is a £12m project being part-funded through the Growth Deal negotiated with Government by the Marches LEP.
The road is part of the Shrewsbury West ‘sustainable urban extension’ which will see the development of 750 new homes. An exhibition is being held this week to give residents the chance to find out more

Projects that will promote economic growth and create jobs across the Marches are being invited to bid for a share of more than £16 million of European funding.

Applications have opened for projects that focus on research and innovation, creating low carbon economies and improving the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.

The three themes have been identified as priorities for funding in the Marches European Structural and Investment Strategy, which was developed by the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership following consultation with stakeholders, partners, the business community and the voluntary and charitable sector.
