Investment in Telford follows historic land deal

Canadian industry giant Magna International to build a new world-class aluminum casting facility in Telford, to support Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s leading vehicle manufacturer.

The Marches LEP has welcomed the investment, which is expected to create 295 jobs at a 225,000 sq ft site on T54, a development site in Telford. The investment has been made possible as a result of an historic land deal negotiated as part of the Marches LEP’s Growth Deal with Government.

The LEP’s partner, Telford & Wrekin Council, completed the deal with the Homes & Communities Agency, which will see 8,500 new jobs delivered through investing in bringing sites like T54 to the market. More... 

A new business service across the Marches has already helped thousands of organisations to unlock support and guidance towards growth.

Since the Marches Growth Hub launched late October 2015, more than 5,000 users have accessed the online business support website www.marchesgrowthhub.co.uk with more than 35,600 different pages visited. More than 2,000 people have attended events held at the physical hubs. Read on..

New study scores LEP regions on prosperity and inclusion

Growth in The Marches LEP region is helping not only to improve the region’s prosperity, but also the levels of employment and income for the people who live and work here.

Research on the city regions of the Northern Powerhouse has provided a new tool for Local Enterprise Partnerships to measure how they are sharing economic growth with all people and places in their region.

The study, called the Inclusive Growth Monitor has given each LEP a score on 18 different indicators based on prosperity and inclusion. More...
SKILLS PROJECTS SECURE MARCHES GROWTH DEAL FUNDING
Four skills-focused projects in the Marches have secured a share of £461,000 of Marches Growth Deal funding.

Two projects in Herefordshire and two in Shropshire are aiming to help address challenges faced by employers operating in industry sectors including agriculture, engineering and manufacturing. Read on...
