International Brethren Conferences on Mission (IBCM) exists to bring together every four years the national leaders of local churches connected with the Brethren movement across the world for spiritual reflection, fellowship and, we pray, renewed experience of the Lord.

Sixth International Brethren Conference on Mission

That the world may know

Monday 22 June - Friday 26 June 2015
Hotel Selene, Pomezia, Rome, Italy

We invite you and other national leaders in the Brethren movement worldwide to join us at the IBCM6 conference. It is (DV) to be held at the Hotel Selene, Pomezia, near Rome from Monday 22 June to Friday 26 June 2015. It is planned to be followed by an Italian national day conference on Saturday 27 June, to which participants in the IBCM6 conference are invited (at extra cost).

Please forward this message to others in your country who may be interested and who may wish to come to the conference.

Conference Programme
Forward to Friend
In response to the Great Commission, the Church of Christ is to be found virtually everywhere in the world. As part of it, there are churches connected with the Brethren movement in probably 140 countries in the world. There are 25,000+ congregations worldwide, with more than 2m people worshiping together Sunday by Sunday.

National groups of Brethren churches vary a lot. Some are weak and declining. Others are dynamic, growing and confident in the Lord. In many places, there is real missionary vision, and the principle of 'from everywhere, to everywhere' is being put into practice. There are people of Brethren background from surprising places who are evangelizing and planting churches in surprising places.

So it's good for national leaders from different countries to meet regularly for fellowship, prayer, spiritual reflection, renewed experience of the Lord, networking, exchange of information, discussion of common questions - above all, for mutual encouragement. We have much to learn from one another.

The previous five IBCM conferences have shown how important this is. Many new initiatives have come from them, within individual countries and internationally.

So we do hope that you will be able to join us in Rome in June 2015. There is room for up to 600 participants at IBCM6 and we hope that there will be representatives from at least 100 countries.

Specific Objectives

  • To seek the presence and direction of the Lord together
  • To enable leaders from across the world to discover and encourage each other
  • To strengthen networking, fellowship and prayer
  • To raise awareness of the spiritual challenges of current trends and cultural developments
  • To share practical experience, ideas and methods
  • To encourage younger leaders
  • To encourage the development of regional conferences with similar objectives
The conference is for both men and women. In particular, please encourage and help younger leaders to come to the conference.

The conference is being held in Italy in fellowship with the Italian assemblies, who also plan to have a national event on 27 June 2015, to which conference participants are invited. There will also be the opportunity for some participants to visit Italian assemblies on 28 June. (The cost of participating in these additional activities will fall to each participant who stays on for them.)

The conference is again being held in Europe because this is the location which minimizes travel costs for the maximum number of potential participants.

The Hotel Selene is a four-star hotel with good facilities, conference hall, and a large number of fully-equipped break-out rooms. All conference activities will be concentrated on the one site. The hotel is located within 40 minutes of both of Rome's international airports.

The great majority of rooms are two- or three-bedded. If you are paying the basic conference fee of 270 € and you are not accompanied by a spouse, you will be asked to share a room (unless you elect to pay the fee for single occupancy of a room). The booking form allows you to nominate a person to share with.

Conference languages

In main sessions, there will be simultaneous translation via headphones between: English, Italian, French and Spanish, and perhaps another language. Informal arrangements for translation into other languages will be made in particular parts of the hall, as practicable and necessary. Some of the workshops will be in Italian, French, Spanish or German, as the case may be.

Main speakers will be from a wide variety of different countries. Some will speak their mother tongue, with consecutive translation into English and simultaneous translation from English into other languages.

Costs preclude the employment of professional translators, but every effort will be made to provide some translation with the expertise available.

Conference fees

The conference fee per person for the period Monday afternoon 22 June - Friday afternoon 26 June is
  • 270 € if paid by 31 March 2015, or
  • 305 € if paid on or after 1 April 2015.

The fee includes the cost of hotel room, meals, charges for use of conference facilities, equipment, translation costs, conference administration, main speakers’ expenses, etc.

The fee excludes all travel costs to and from the conference, which will fall to each participant, including those to and from airports within Italy. It also excludes the cost of medical and repatriation insurance where that is arranged by the organisers to facilitate visa applications; the fee for this insurance will therefore be charged to the participants concerned as an additional item.

Single rooms: for single occupation of rooms, the conference fee will be 315 € if paid by 31 March 2015 and 350 € if paid after that date.

Day visitors: the fee for day visitors (i.e., excluding hotel room and breakfast) is: 50 € per day (60 € a day if booking after 31 March 2015). Day visitors must submit a booking form.

Accommodation can be available for nights before and after the conference, by prior arrangement only, at a cost of 56 € per person per day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Bookings can only be made by submitting a completed booking form.
