Dear <<First Name>>, the election is upon us, and we at the Tenants' Union are asking you to give a final boost to our campaign for More Bang For Your Bond. Here's what we need you to do...
1. Sign the new online petition
2. Share a photo on our Facebook wall
3. Give out some postcards or leaflets
More than 250 people have signed our new online petition. Can you help us get to 400? We've also printed 20,000 postcards. They're available in cafes and at Tenants Services across NSW, or email us and we'll send you some. We want you to take a photo of yourself with a postcard (or anything with the campaign logo in it) and email it to us or share it on our Facebook wall, like all of these wonderful people...

Tenant News election special out now

Last week we posted over 3,000 copies of Tenant News - our newsletter for tenants. Did you get yours? This issue has stories from tenants about the value of their local Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services, plus info on More Bang For Your Bond and the TU policy & law reform platform. Read it online here.

From the Tenants' Union blog...

In the lead-up to the election, we've been analysing the policies of the political parties in relation to housing and tenancy. Find out more in these posts: We've also been following the ongoing shenanigans of the "No Land Tax" party (after we broke the story that they use fake photos of 'supporters'): We've argued before that land tax is the fairest tax. In a recent blog post, we argue for reforming land tax rates to improve housing affordability.

Meanwhile, in legal news, Badgerys Creek tenants have been marched out of the Tribunal – and out of special provisions for long-term tenants. Also, Defence Housing tenants will no longer have access to the Tribunal for resolution of tenancy disputes. Instead, they'll now have to go to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
