Tenants in NSW need a champion.

Dear <<First Name>>

2 million people rent in NSW, and they need someone like you on their side!

I write to thank you for your ongoing interest and support of the Tenants’ Union. You are part of a key group of supporters who have shared with us your concern about unaffordable and insecure housing. Knowing we have your support makes a real difference.

I also write to ask if you would like to take your support a step further and become a TU Ambassador by donating $50 per year, or by making a regular monthly donation.

The Tenants’ Union has not had an increase in government funding since 2002. In that time the number of tenancies has increased 42%. We are stretched way too thin. Just a small amount of independent funds will enable the TU to continue to be a champion for tenants’ rights.

Why do tenants need a champion?

When a renter’s fixed term agreement ends they can:

  • be evicted at any time without being given a reason; or
  • have their rent increased at any time by any amount.

The Tenants’ Union of NSW has been defending tenants’ rights for over 40 years. We have achieved major improvements in tenancy law. But there is more to do.

By becoming a TU Ambassador you can help us continue our work:

  • Informing, educating and advising tenants. Over 700,000 access tenants.org.au every year.
  • Conducting public interest litigation
  • Advocating for reform of laws and policy affecting tenants, particularly vulnerable tenants
  • Providing support to a network of 19 tenant advice and advocacy services across the state including four which are managed and staffed by Aboriginal people
  • Providing dedicated advocacy and education for residential park residents

Can you donate today?

As a TU Ambassador you will continue to receive our regular e-news on all things tenancy; be acknowledged in our annual report, receive advance notification of TU events, and know you are making a difference.

As the only specialist independent and accessible housing law community legal centre we need your help, so we can continue to work for tenants, boarding house residents and residential park residents of NSW.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to give me a call on 8117 3700.
