One Croydon Training Programme
January - March 2023


One Croydon's Training programme is for our frontline workforce, including: Food Banks, Social Prescribers, Health and Social Care staff, Befrienders, Faith groups, Social Workers, Employment Advisors, Charities. 

It is targeted at people supporting better health and wellbeing in Croydon and aims at sharing good practice across the sectors.

Universal Credit Overview
Thursday, 19 January  from 10:30 – 12:30, online
This workshop provides an overview of Universal Credit with a presentation by Zahir Khan, Department of Work and Pension, followed by a Q & A time.

What is the local support for residents looking for employment? With unemployment and underemployment raising, join us to consider how we can initially support and who to contact if further, specialised support is needed. Safeguarding Training delivered by our partners
Croydon Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP)

Domestic Abuse Training
Thursday 12 January 2023, Thursday 09 February 2023, Thursday 23 March 2023
Sessions run from 09:30 - 13:00
An opportunity to be trained by specialists Domestic Abuse workers who are based within the Family Justice Centre (FJC) for professionals and volunteers who regularly work with families and children, their parent/carers – or have a period of irregular but intense contact. RIC/MARAC Training
Thursday 19 January 2023, Thursday 23 February 2023, Thursday 30 March 2023
Sessions run in person from 09:30 - 15:00
This training is aimed at staff who work with adults/children and roles involving completing/attending MARAC, Designated Safeguarding Leads and any other professionals whose role includes understanding the process of RIC/MARAC. Croydon Council 

Safeguarding Children Training Level 3
Tuesday 24 January 2023 and Thursday 16 March 2023
Sessions run from 09:30 - 15:00
This training is not specifically designed for the voluntary sector. It is based on the core competencies outlined in the DFE Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and the London Child Protection Procedure. It is for professionals and volunteers who work regularly or intensely with children and young people and their families. Ascent Training 

Working with Male Victims of Domestic Abuse, CPD Accredited
Tuesday, 31 January 2023, online
This online course is designed to help frontline workers support male victims of domestic abuse. This training is not trainer-led. Participants will identify the domestic abuse experiences of male victims and the barriers to help-seeking and learn how to use the Respect Toolkit for Working with Male Victims of Domestic Abuse, so they can better meet the needs of the men they work with.

This one day Safer Recruitment course covers:

  • Changes and updates to safer recruitment requirements
  • An understanding of offender behaviour
  • Identifying the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
  • How to create and maintain an ongoing culture of vigilance
  • Opportunities to consider policies and practice that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting
