Last Month's Meeting Rocked!

At the August Unite IE. Steve Frank, who has been involved in California politics for over 50 years, was our guest speaker. As far as content goes, it was one of the best and most important meetings we have had.

Steve shared his seemingly endless knowledge of California politics and, specifically, the state's Republican Party. Steve started off his talk by explaining that the Republican Party only wants grassroots Conservatives for two reasons: time and money. They want grassroots conservatives to donate money, make phone calls, and walk precincts. Anything beyond that, the Republican Party has no need for grassroots conservatives.

He then went on to explain the role that Central Committees play in local and state politics. More significantly, he laid out a plan to take back control of the County Central Committees and to start getting grassroots conservatives elected first to local seats and then into state level positions.

His focus on local level elections is crucial because it is in these seats that we get a real feel for how a candidate will serve (or not serve) as promised. As Steve said, "It is a lot easier to remove someone from a city council than it is to remove someone who is a member of Congress."

In the end, his plan will allow grassroots conservatives to establish "farm teams" from which proven candidates can be prepared for the big league state elections. The core of this plan is to help get ordinary grassroots conservatives, including members of our own groups interested in running for office --but lack the know-how-- elected. This is done by making sure that no solid grassroots conservative candidate runs by themselves. They will have a network of grassroots conservatives supporting them with advice, experience,, time, and manpower.

In the shorter term, Steve discussed the need for as many grassroots conservatives to attend the California Republican Convention as possible. The convention, which is being held in Los Angeles on September 19 -21, is free and open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Of the three days, Saturday the 20th is the most important. On this day, the Tea Party California Caucus will have its own meeting within the convention. This is our opportunity to show the establishment GOP that California's grassroots conservatives are a force to be reckoned with.

Later that evening, the Tea Party California Caucus complementary hospitality suite is a great opportunity to meet other grassroots conservatives from throughout our great state of California.

Prior to Steve's talk, only a couple of people were planning to attend the convention. Afterwards, the majority stated that they were planning to attend at least on Saturday. This commitment to attend the convention was due to the incredible information that Steve shared with us.

For those unable to attend the August Unite IE gathering, we regret that you missed out on this incredible meeting. But it is not too late to get involved. You can start by committing to be with your fellow Unite IE coalition members at the California Republican conference next month.

Citizen Ninjas Log Victory in Riverside

Tressy Capps, Ly Kou and Robin Hvidston organized a successful campaign to turn back an effort to move Riverside a step closer to a sanctuary for illegal aliens.

A great re-cap of the Council meeting was written by Robert Cameron and can be read here.

In his article, Cameron notes that the resolution submitted by Councilman Melendrez was authored by LULAC and "Justice For Immigrants". He goes on to describe a Press Enterprise account of the event editorialized the meeting by parroting the Resolution description of illegal aliens as "immigrants".
