We're thrilled to send the first edition the Omega Dance Company newsletter. We'll be sharing news, upcoming performances, and other happenings in the sacred dance community from time to time.

We have many exciting things to share this month, including a leadership announcement, two performances, and a special opportunity to support a visit from Omega founder Carla De Sola this spring.

Omega welcomes Margaret Elaine Plaza as Associate Director!
With thirteen years' experience as a principal dancer with Omega, sixteen years' experience as a dance educator, two arts degrees, and a robust background of professional dance training, Margaret brings a wealth of wisdom to Omega's leadership team, as well as a fiercely graceful spirit. We are overjoyed to have her on the Omega team.

In addition to setting Omega repertory and her own choreography, Margaret is excited to expand Omega's educational and cultural initiatives.

Save the date! Carla De Sola, founder of Omega Dance Company, is coming to NYC May 2-4, 2014 for a weekend of sacred dance, including a workshop and a performance opportunity.

"Mirror Image" at Church of the Village
Sunday, 12/15, 10:30am, "Blue Christmas" worship celebration

"Mirror Image," choreographed by Associate Director Margaret Elaine Plaza and performed by Margaret Elaine Plaza and Mahalia Leola Mays, to the music "Stained-Glass Morning" composed by Paul Winter, is a deeply passionate and haunting duet that reflects upon the myriad of emotions one experiences when coping with the loss of a loved one.

Christmas Eve at St. Ignatius Loyola
Tuesday, 12/24; 4pm family mass; 6pm family mass

Co-director Katie Bignell and Associate Director Margaret Elaine Plaza will bring joyful energy to St. Ignatius' gorgeous Christmas Eve family masses, including premiering a new piece to David Haas' Mass of Light "Glory to God," and dancing to Christmas classics such as "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and "Joy to the World." Both masses feature choirs of more than 50 singers. Come share the joy!

St. Ignatius is located on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 84th St. and Park Ave.

In the sacred dance community
Christmas Pageant at Church of the Village
Sunday, 12/8, 10:30am

In her role as Director of the Joyful Noise Dance Choir at Church of the Village, Omega Co-director Martha Chapman brings dancers and non-dancers, children and adults together to tell the story of the nativity in song, dance, and drama. The pageant even features tap dancing sheep! Look closely and you'll recognize some Omega faces in the cast. Come celebrate the season and make joyful noise!
