Dear friends of Omega,

2014-2015 is Omega's 40th Anniversary Season! We'll be celebrating all year long with special features in our newsletter, a visit from Carla De Sola in April 2015, and of course, performances around NYC.

We're also thrilled to kickoff a fun-filled workshop series called Movin' with the Spirit!, created especially for this jubilant year.

Thank you, friends, for supporting Omega for four decades; we wouldn't be here with your love. We hope we can celebrate with you in person at one of our events before the year is out!

Peace,
Becky, Katie, Martha, and Margaret

Movin' With the Spirit: Chakras!

Your chakras are dynamic energy centers that connect your physical body to your subtle energy body, which in turn interfaces with the world around you.

In this workshop, Maura Burns, longtime Omega company member, certified acupuncturist, and holistic energy healer, will introduce each of the seven major chakras, their main functions, and a movement that helps to activate and balance each.

Omega History 101: What's in a name?
Have you ever wondered how Omega got its name?

In 1974, Carla De Sola spent time in a study group led by Fr. Robert McGuire, a Jesuit teacher and expert on the spirituality of French mystic, philosopher, and scientist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, SJ (pictured here). It was this study group that inspired Carla to bring together highly trained, like-minded dancers to form a sacred dance company.
When the new company needed a name, Carla turned to one of Teilhard de Chardin's defining philosophies for inspiration: the Omega Point. Teilhard theorized that the universe is constantly developing towards higher levels of material complexity and consciousness; the Omega Point is the maximum level of complexity and consciousness possible.
