A Q&A with the founder of Dadwell & Co., music for plants, and a profile on a kick-butt local ceramicist

In Conversation with Antonio García of Dadwell & Co.

While rekindling his creative spirit, Antonio García launched Dadwell & Co.—an independent media project at the intersection of creativity and fatherhood. We spoke with him about his leave, the fears associated with “taking a break” as well as fatherhood, and what he’s learning while interviewing fathers (like our very own Design & Strategy Director David Sieren) on The Dadwell Podcast. Don’t miss this one, folks.

I refuse to accept that plants, scientifically, don’t love this album

“‘Concerto for Philodendron & Pothos’ twinkles like the first stars to emerge after a sunset. ‘Symphony for a Spider Plant’ bubbles with wonder. ‘A Mellow Mood for Maidenhair’ bears traces of a psychedelic awakening. But the stated audience of this strange but soothing music was not people. It was for plants.” If you haven’t heard of or read up on Mort Garson’s album Mother Earth’s Plantasia, now’s the time.

For all those things that you may be forgetting...

George Hatzis, a product designer from Sydney, Australia, built Checklist Design—a website that lists out all the minimum requirements a page needs to satisfy the user experience—“in case you ever get caught up with the finer details.” Quite a lovely toolbox!

Way too pretty not to share

See it to believe it. I promise I’m not bluffing.

I’m a sucker for good ceramics

Especially when the artist is local. Give this Chicago Magazine feature on David Kim a read.
