Miraviva in the news
January is a busy month in the travel industry and at Miraviva we had a record number of new enquiries with a strong revival of interest in holidays to Argentina and Chile. We also passed the milestone of our 100th booking since our launch and have arranged holidays for over 300 guests, many of them visiting South America for the first time.
This is welcome news for us following the uncertainties of 2016. We owe a big thank you to our partners who are working with us to keep both our costs and our prices under control.
We have always supported a range of press articles in the national and international media, and in recent months our focus has been on Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands, and Brazil.
The Vanity Fair on Travel 2017 edition was dedicated to South America and our feature on Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands (written by journalist Paul Richardson) highlighted the new gastronomy scene where a group of young chefs are achieving international renown with their restaurants in Quito, Guayaquil and the Galápagos Islands.
Paul also wrote a feature on ‘Five-Star Farmstays’ in Ecuador for the Financial Times Weekend, and another article about chocolate production at the recently opened Hacienda La Danesa near Guayaquil for Economist 1843 magazine.
With our focus on quality additions to travelling, last summer we were delighted to chance across a new and certainly one of the best city boutique hotels in South America, Vila Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro. A few weeks later the owners kindly received The Week Magazine who published a short feature by selecting the property as one of their "Six of the World's Best Hotels".
A mention of our Sunday Times on Travel piece on Hot Air Ballooning in the Atacama Desert which was launched last summer, brings us to the end of this news update and to the start of another journey towards our next milestone - our 200th booking!
Miraviva continues to search out new and slightly different experiences throughout Latin America and bring them to your attention. To this end, Marc will be spending a month in Colombia in May; look out for our newsletter on this and our other discoveries later in the year.
