WR3 PEI a Great Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 7th annual Wear Red Road Race that took place on April 18. Over 200 runners, walkers, and wheelchair racers participated in 5K, 10K, and half-marathon events. We even had a little fun run for the kids.

We really appreciate all of you who supported this fundraiser for the PEI MFRC. Maybe next year, there won't be snow for our racers to contend with!

Education & Employment Assistance (Community Partnership)

We've partnered with Career Development Services (CDS), which offers services free of charge in six locations across the Island: Bloomfield, Charlottetown, Souris, Summerside, Wellington, and Montague.

Whether you're looking for work, changing your career, returning to the workforce, or exploring career and training opportunities, CDS can help. They offer a friendly and confidential environment where you are able to learn about career options, discover your skills,  and search for employment.

They can help you create or update your resume, draft a cover letter, explore potential job opportunities, identify employers, prepare for a job interview, etc. CDS can show you the difference between a job search and a successful job search.  They also offer career counselling to help you discover a career path that suits your personality, strengths, and lifestyle.  Each CDS location has a comfortable and quiet Resource Centre where you can make local phone calls, print, photocopy, scan, fax, and use a computer with Internet connection free of charge. A selection of employment-related books and other publications are on hand, as well as a Job Board  with a number of current employment opportunities.

If you are interested in a referral to any of the Career Development Services offices, simply call the PEI MFRC at 902.892.8999. If you would like to contact them directly, you can find contact information on their website (please let them know you heard about the service through the PEI MFRC): http://cdspei.ca/home

Posting/Moving Tips

Prepare kids for what to expect. Young children might not have a good understanding of what the term “moving” really means. Explain to them exactly what will happen, and take the time to read some age-appropriate books about moving together.

Let the kids help you pack. If they’re old enough, let your children help you pack some of their personal belongings. Even at a young age, kids can sort their toys and help you wrap objects in tissue paper or bubble wrap. If you’ll be putting some things into storage, ask them what they would like to keep and what they don’t mind parting with for a while.

Have a goodbye party. Give your kids an opportunity to say goodbye to the people who matter to them most. Children love a celebration, and this can be a great way to turn your move into a positive, exciting experience.
