3 Holiday Tips for Military Families

Maybe a family member is away on deployment or maybe you are new to your community. Either way, the holidays can be tough for military families. Here's 3 ways to make the holidays fun for your family...

1. Create your own holiday traditions. If this holiday season is different than usual, for whatever reason, take the opportunity to create new traditions and make new memories. Go see a movie on Christmas Eve, sponsor a local family, host a neighbourhood December BBQ, learn a new board game with your family, have a PJ and movie night . . . whatever you decide to do, claim it as a new holiday tradition.

2. Keep the really important traditions. Just because a family imember s away or you might be missing your usual community connections doesn't mean you have to let go of all your holiday traditions. Sometimes, during times of change, regular celebrations, routines, and traditions are just as important as creating new ones.

3. Reach out to another military family. Nothing brings more cheer than brightening someone else's day!
January Coffee Time

Because of the busy-ness of the holiday season, please note there will not be a coffee open house this month. The next coffee drop in will be January 13, 10:00 at the Det. See you then!

Last Call for Christmas Mail for Deployed CAF Members

Christmas is fast approaching, and loved ones of deployed personnel, along with the general public, may still want to send care packages and moral mail to CAF members deployed overseas.

In order for these items to make it on time, clear guidelines and instructions have been put together and have been made available here: http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/write-to-the-troops/mailing-instructions.page

Festive Family Fun Day

We're planning a special holiday family event for military families on Saturday, December 6 from 11:30am to 3:00pm at HMCS QC.

Join us for face painting, balloon twisting, inflatables, popcorn and cotton candy, colouring, entertainment, and refreshments. Rumour has it that a special guest will also make an appearance with some goodies for the kids.

Pre-registration is required and ID will be checked at the door for the adults attending. There is no cost for military families for this event, but a non-perishable item for the Food Bank would be appreciated.

We encourage all of our military families to attend, and we do our best to accommodate all military schedules; however, December is a busy month, and it's difficult to find a date that works for everyone. If the military member of your family is unable to attend, we still encourage you to come on out. Invite grandparents, aunts/uncles, or a special friend to come with you to celebrate the season.
Call for Testimonials

Have you used one of our services or had a positive experience with one of our staff members? We'd love to hear from you! The PEI MFRC is collecting testimonials from our clients—you can send them to us either via Facebook or email (peimfrc@gmail.com). Help us spread the word about the PEI MFRC!

You can also leave a review on our Facebook Page!

Morale mail destined for OPERATIONS IMPACT, REASSURANCE and KUWAIT need to be received in Belleville, ON, no later than December 5 so mail needs to be dropped off to the PEI MFRC ASAP (this week, ideally).
