Hope's Door Virtual Concert

We recently canceled both our Spring Gala and Fall Luncheon. We so value these special events because they bring together our board, staff and supporters in beautiful locations to enjoy each other’s company, while we fund raise for the agency.  The loss of personal contact with donors and friends is distressing, but the loss in revenue that supports our programs and services is devastating.  So, a few weeks ago we decided to host two virtual concerts, one on July 23 and one on October 1.

There is Often No PAUSE for Victims in Need

A few days into the NYS PAUSE, one Hope’s Door counseling client called their counselor in a clear panic.  A dire situation had arisen from an argument with their partner, causing police involvement.  The client was in immediate need of an Order of Protection.

Meet Melissa Diodati, Director of Residential Services

Meet Melissa Diodati, who joined the team at Hope’s Door in January to lead our Residential Services Department. This is Melissa’s second turn at Hope’s Door, as she was a part-time counselor working at the shelter and answering hotline calls with us for nine years earlier in her career. In her role as Director of Residential Services, Melissa oversees five full time staff and twelve per diem staff as she works to promote a safe, trauma-informed environment for shelter residents. Per diem staff fill in overnight and other hours at the shelter, which operates 24/7/365.

Bilingual counselor, Stephanie Aguayo, is thrilled to share that her client was chosen to be featured on a Spotify podcast called “Narcissist Apocalypse”. This podcast focuses on giving a voice to survivors of abuse. An avid listener of the podcast, the survivor had the courage to write a letter and was selected to be on the podcast.
