AND MANY MORE COMING SOON
Fr Pablo 'Ors has been appointed to the Pontifical Council for Culture. He is an acclaimed novelist, worker with the sick and supporter of women's ordination. You can read about him here
This is the WOW steering committee at An Grianán House, Termonfeckin, County Louth, Ireland.

This was a very productive meeting whose focus was mainly on the 2015 Conference. All delegates were inspired by imaginative and thought provoking liturgies.

An Grianán House is a wonderful place where other interesting groups of women were also meeting - all were totally positive about what we were doing and said they would pray for us.

Colette, Erin, Kate and Miriam were interviewed for the Irish Independent. You can read the article here.

Mary T Malone spoke at the Saturday afternoon open meeting. People travelled from all over Ireland to hear this inspirational speaker. Her talk was based on her new book "The Elephant in the Church - A Woman's Tract for Our Times"

Thanks to We Are Church Ireland for their wonderful hospitality. Good craic!

Late News from Nun Justice Project

On Tuesday, December 16, we invite you to join members of the Nun Justice Project in watching a live-stream press conference from the Vatican about the outcomes of the Congregation for Religious' Apostolic Visitation of U.S. sisters conducted from 2009 to 2012.

The press conference is being held in Rome at 11:30 am Rome time, (5:30 am Eastern time in the U.S.).  Click here for link

While early reports indicate the report will be positive, it is important to remember that the mandate against the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) still stands.

It is encouraging that the president of LCWR, Sr. Sharon Holland, will participate in the press conference.  However, until the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) rescinds the mandate and apologizes to LCWR, the sisters remain under a Vatican cloud.

The NunJustice Project thinks it is important to understand what sisters themselves have to say about their experience of the Visitation.  Power of Sisterhood: Women Religious Tell the Story of the Apostolic Visitation is an inspiring narrative told from their perspectiveSr Addie Lorraine Walker reflects "... it was in the midst of this sense of marginality or within a context of subjugation that women religious found a unique sense of liberating power along with the meaning and purpose of their prophetic voice."  (Full review can be found here)

Your passionate advocacy for the sisters through hundreds of prayer services, public demonstrations and media events was instrumental in advancing due process, raising up women's leadership voice and promoting justice in the church. Your witness is an important milestone in the ongoing struggle for human rights in the Church.

The Nun Justice Project will be issuing a statement and media response after the press conference. Background on the Nun Justice Project's work addressing the LCWR mandate here

WOW Conference Prayer

As we prepare to gather in September 2015 for the WOW International Conference, “Gender, Gospel and Global Justice”:

We are mindful that Your Spirit, Loving Creator, has awakened in us and in those upon whose shoulders we stand, an awareness of Your Life and Voice within and around us. We listen, clothed in the sacred garments of the Good News of Jesus the Christ. We listen, assured that You have formed and gifted our hearts and minds for all that calls us forward. We listen, believing with gratitude, that you have prepared us for this moment in history when women shall stand firmly and fully in any and every dimension of ministry.

Help us, those who plan this important conference, and those who plan to participate in its offerings, to drink deeply of Your Wisdom and Vision as revealed in the Gospel. May that Cup of the Gospel assist us as we gather from around the globe to create a conference which will offer ways to seek and proclaim, and thereby reveal the Gospel pathway of justice for women and men, their children, people of faith everywhere, and for our living planet that nourishes all life dwelling upon it.

Our hope and our belief is that Your Justice will arise anew in every person attending this conference, and that this same Justice, in the power of Love, will fill willing hearts with courage and commitment to carry forth Love’s Light around this planet to wherever and whomever is in need of Light. Help us and all people whom we serve to immerse ourselves in the Gospel.

Amen
