MOP is excited and honoured to announce our 10th Anniversary this September! To mark this very special occasion we invite you to join us for a dynamic series of events taking place in Los Angeles in September 2014.

An outstanding selection of contemporary artworks will be exhibited at Sotheby's Los Angeles from 16-18 September, before traveling to New York to be included in the Sotheby's Contemporary Day Sale on November 12. 

We are incredibly grateful and indebted to the donating artists, patrons, organisations and individuals who have made it possible for MOP to grow from strength to strength since its inception in 2004!

Beginning of an End

Golnaz Jamsheed, one of two 2013/2014 MOP Filmmaking Scholarship students at the London Film School, is raising funds for her graduation film Beginning of an End and needs your support.

Written and directed by Golnaz, Beginning of an End is a fiction drama of a young Iranian/Armenian boy who copes with his grandfathers passing and the reality of death. To hear more about the project visit the Kickstarter Campaign.

Mitra Farahani’s lyrical documentary Fifi Howls from Happiness explores the enigma of provocative artist Bahman Mohassess, the so-called “Persian Picasso,” whose acclaimed paintings and sculptures dominated pre-revolutionary Iran. 

This brilliant and insightful documentary has screened at major international film festivals including Berlin International Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival and New York Film Festival to great reviews and has won awards at Buenos Aires Film Festival, Escales Documentaries: Association La Rochelle and Cinema Du Reel Film Festivals to name a few.

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the opening of the exhibition Iran Inside Out at the Chelsea Museum in 2009 and on the first anniversary of Iran Modern, which debuted at the Asia Society in 2013, curators Roya Khadjavi Heidari and Massoud Nader are pleased to present Portraits: Reflections by Emerging Iranian Artists, a groundbreaking group show which will further shed light on, and explore, Iran’s contemporary art scene by showcasing work by over 20 young Iranian artists who were raised, educated, and born there.

The exhibition will include paintings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and video works by Ahmad Morshedloo, Alishia Morassaie, Arash Sedaghatkish, Babak Bidarian, Bahar Behbahani, Dadbeh Bassir, Hossein Edalatkhah, Jinoos Taghizadeh, Morteza Pourhosseini, Nasser Bakhshi, Samira Alikhanzadeh, Sepanta Ghassemkhani, among others, many of whose works have never before been exhibited in the United States.

Muse will present the latest work by photographer Cyrus Mahboubian, a series responding to the notion of an artist's muse, exploring ideas of beauty, femininity and the ancient spirit of the land in England. Cyrus' work will be shown alongside that of Victor Gingembre, a French sculptor who exhibited at the Louvre in Paris in 2013.

The Edinburgh Iranian Festival call for artists for the 2015 multi-artist exhibition is now open! Artworks must be created by an Iranian artist or inspired by Iran. The first deadline for completed applications and supporting material is 24th October 2014.
