Monthly Newsletter
It was a wild close for the 2019 legislative session, but it finally came to an end at 3 am on Saturday, September 14th. With a Democratic supermajority, we were able to get significant progressive legislation passed.  (Click the image below for info).  The bills that passed are now headed to Governor Newson, who has a deadline of October 13th to sign them into law or to veto them. A bill will become law by default, if no action is taken.

Please call the Governor’s office (916-445-2841) and urge him to sign these bills!

Thanks to all ISBLA members for calling, writing letters, and signing petitions to let our elected representatives know we're watching and want our voices heard.

October group meeting

Our next group meeting will be on Saturday, October 5 from 2:00 - 3:45 PM, at Torrance Zamperini Field.

We will hear an informative talk about the "Super State Strategy" for 2020.  There are 11 key states that are likely to decide who will be President in 2021, which party has control of the Senate, and whether we can put a stop to gerrymandering after the 2020 census.  (click image for a preview)

This month we're asking you to consider supporting Moms Demand Action.

Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We can pass stronger gun laws, work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families, and work in our own communities to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership.

Holding Our Elected Officials Accountable

We meet regularly with the staff of each of our elected representatives, at both the National and State level.  We advocate for our positions on current legislation, and provide feedback to them on their actions & votes.

The meetings are great way to engage in the democratic process!  The staff listens carefully - and we often see positive outcomes from these interactions. If you'd like to participate, look for upcoming meetings on the calendar link below.
