Vancouver: Strike has ended and operations are back to normal.
Long Beach/Los Angeles: The ILWU contract is set to expire on June 30th and negotiations will not begin until mid-May.
New York/New Jersey: Severe winter weather revealed weaknesses in the existing port chassis model in which chassis operators, ocean carriers, and truckers all compete in the same chassis pool. The average turn time increased from 5 to 10 days, due to weather, long wait times at the port, equipment availability, and warehouses fighting backlogs for delivery.
Southeastern US and Gulf ports: Business as usual! Savannah, Charleston, Atlanta, Memphis (as well as Kansas City and Chicago) adopted trucker-owned and “gray pool” chassis concepts a few years ago, and most will agree that the change has been effective.
