Theme: Snack Time
We love to snack here at Field Goods (who doesn't) and we are all about the healthy snack. While we've got some obvious snack choices this week (cherries, broccoli, peas), we've also got some great snacks-in-the-rough. All we need is a mandoline! (Don't have one? Get one! You'll use it all the time). We can take all kinds of stuff: zucchini, radishes, etc. and make them into chips and fries. Slice to the appropriate thickness, toss with oil & seasonings, and bake. Simple, healthy snacks. Check out the recipes below.

Gold Zucchini Designer zucchini! Great for grilling. Cut into 1/4 inch slices length-wise, toss or brush with a little bit of oil and salt and pepper, then grill for about 5 minutes per side. Place in a bowl and toss with more oil. Add vinegar and herbs or Parmesan cheese. Cassaday Farm (FAM)

Broccoli A staple that can easily be played up. For a quick dish, sautee with soy sauce, oil, garlic and almonds. We like roasting broccoli with a few chiles and a bit of lemon (yum). Cassaday Farm (FAM)

Lettuce Put fresh salads on your table as often as you can. For a more filling and flavorful boost add roasted nuts, died cranberries, roasted sunflower seeds, shaved parmesan, or chick peas. Markristo Farm (CO)
Storage: Up to a week in the crisper, store with a paper towel. 
5 Essential Salad Dressings
Sugar Snap Peas are all about texture, sweetness and crunch. They don’t take long to cook—1 to 2 minutes max. Resist overcooking! You’ll end up with sad, limp peas. Cut your snaps in thirds crosswise, or halve lengthwise on a long diagonal. Cut them before or after steaming. If boiling, cut them afterwards or else the tumbling action of boiling water will free the peas from their pods. For a super quick fix, loosely cover, put in microwave for 30 seconds (ish), add a bit of butter. Enjoy raw for a snack. Cassaday Farm (FAM)

Braising Mix A mix of colorful, assorted greens such as kale, chard, bok choy, mustard greens, spinach, turnip greens and beet greens. Very easy to prepare—just toss the greens in a pan with hot oil and garlic and add a liquid. Finish off with soy sauce or parmesan cheese. Markristo Farm (CO)

French Breakfast Radishes A traditional variety in southern France. Best eaten raw! For a snack, slice and layer on bread with cheese, butter or olive oil. Top with chives and salt and pepper to taste. Roasting mellows the taste of radishes—roast halved radishes at 375 degrees with butter or oil and lemon juice for about 20 minutes. Migliorelli Farm (IPM)
