Jesus Meets Us
in the Conflict!
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh
but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

Fire at the main entrance of the US Embassy, Tegucigalpa!
|
|
For the past several weeks Honduras has experienced several rounds of political protests. People have shown up in crowds to march and block roads with cars, trucks, rocks and burning tires. On Thursday the airport was completely shut down by protestors who blocked the entrance and were trying to get inside. Everything escalated Friday with huge crowds on the street, lots of property damage, people getting injured, and the main entrance of the US Embassy being set on fire.
This is a hard time for the people of Honduras and by extension for us living and ministering here.
Such large scale conflict begs the question, 'What are your eyes focused on?' Is the focus on your problems, on people and the hope that the right person will fix everything, or is the focus on Jesus?
In Matthew 14 the disciples were out on the water in a boat having trouble with a storm and Jesus came out to them! Peter does an amazing thing and steps out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus. They were in the storm and Peter walked out to Jesus... but then he looked at the wind, became much afraid and began to sink. He then cried out to Jesus, "Lord save me!" and immediately Jesus caught him.
Peter sinking in the water was a real physical problem and not just some spiritualized issue.
The people of Honduras need to know that Jesus is ready to save them if they will call out to Him! That's why were here to tell them and why you join in the battle with us through prayer!

What is Your Identity
Ellen lead a craft and lesson entitled "Your Identity" with the youth in the continuing education program. She wore a shirt that said "Made in Honduras" which was a fun intro to talking about our identity.
|
|
|
She shared how each one of us is made by God, in His image, with a purpose, and that our most important decision is to voluntarily submit to Him to become His sons and daughters.
For the craft the youth cut out the initial of their first name in cardboard and covered it by glueing down sticks.
God is good and has good for these youth!

Pigs!
In April we purchased our first set of 14 piggies!
We are using an all natural method of pig raising that is healthier for the pigs and actually reduces operating costs.
|
|
|
This all natural pig system requires managing several components work together and I hope to discuss each one in more detail in the future but the list is:
Deep litter bedding
Lactic Acid Bacteria
Fermented Feed
Black Soldier Fly Larva
Fresh Fodder
Several different things all working together to make for a great pig raising system with awesome opportunities to share Christ!

Team Honduras!!
Team Honduras is God working through you and us! You might never step foot in Honduras, but you can effectively engage through regular prayer for us and the work here, and through your financial support!
One gives freely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
Whoever brings blessing will be enriched,
and one who waters will himself be watered.
