Spring just around the corner

We’ve been welcoming the first sight of big blue Suffolk skies for a while here at Flick & Son as winter makes way for spring.
Our optimism towards the changing season has been matched by a lively performance in the housing market for January with figures confounding the predictions.  The latest Rightmove Price Index is showing increases in asking prices for all regions of England and Wales.  The East of England has shown the greatest annual growth outside London and the South East.
Continued increases in asking prices are in part due to demand still outstripping supply.  Rightmove reports an increase of 31 per cent in housing transactions over the past two years while just 11 per cent more new property has come onto the market.
Flick & Son is the first point of contact for people looking to buy property on and around Suffolk’s Heritage Coast.  Therefore if you are thinking of selling your home, it makes sense to talk to us first so it can be promoted to the highest number of potential buyers.

The latest market news

The buy to let sector rebounded strongly in January, according to new figures.
Connells Survey and Valuation report a 37 per cent increase in activity year on year, recovering from steep falls reported before Christmas.
It is thought an increase in available mortgage products on offer to landlords has contributed to the increase in interest, as well as continued low
mortgage rates.

Seven houses made entirely of straw are being built in the UK for the first time after becoming eligible for a standard mortgage.
Previously the eco-homes have been the preserve of specialist projects but this row of straw homes in Bristol have secured building certification allowing them to be bought with a regular mortgage agreement.
Each of the two and three bedroom homes will use more than seven tonnes of straw and scientists believe costs to heat them will be 90 per cent lower than a traditional brick house.  They are due to be finished in April.
