Housing market hotter than the weather
 
Welcome to the latest newsletter from Flick & Son.  The market is continuing to power ahead with latest figures from the Office for National Statistics claiming prices in the East of England are rising faster than any other part of the UK.  The ONS House Price Index shows a 9.2% annual increase compared to June last year.  Based on figures from the Land Registry, average prices in our own area are running slightly higher than that.
 
Momentum has continued to build in our part of Suffolk with another very busy period in all our five branch offices.  Flick & Son Director Peter Watson said: “We have experienced a summer rush with many new buyers registering with us for the first time seeking every type of property imaginable, whether seaside, town or country.”
 
Supply and demand is almost certainly a factor in house prices with a premium being added to the steady growth shown over the last couple of years.  The average prices continue to vary significantly across the area and there is still plenty of value to be had as our graphic of prices by location shows below.  
 
“Despite an increase in the volume of houses coming to the market, demand still exceeds supply so we are keen to visit anyone thinking about selling to discuss their property sale with them,” Peter Watson added.

A quarter of house hunters take less than a week to find their new home, according to a new survey by a mortgage provider.
 
Online research appears to be playing its part with most potential homeowners spending up to three months homing in on the area they want to live in.  The survey claims, on average, those seeking a home will view a property of interest two or three times before making a decision but 25% took the plunge after just one viewing.
 
17% said they viewed just one property in their search but the average homebuyer will look at up to five homes before finding the right one for them.
