On May 14, (Day of Winning Auction Pick/Ups) there will be an IN PERSON Bake Sale, Barbecue and Lawn Sale at the church.
The hours are from 10 am to 1 pm.
Notes for Bake Sale:
A Bake Table will be available May 14, 10:00 - 1:00 pm when all the lucky winning bidders are popping into the church to pick up their new treasurers.
We are happy to accept all home baked food items. We ask that you bring your donations to the church by 9:15 on May 14. The folks working at the Bake Table will love you if you remember to label the food item.
Please include key ingredients. As well as the usual ingredients that are not used eg gluten free, no eggs, lactose free.
Remember, BBUC is a nut free environment that includes peanut butter.
If you know that your recipe is in our brand new Birchcliff Bluffs Favourite Heavenly Recipes please 'star' the label too.
Judy will be selling the cookbook at the sale. ($15.00)
To help you with how to present your food items if it is squares, cupcakes, tarts etc please have 6 on the tray/container. For cookies 6 if they are larger and 12 if they are smaller on a tray.
Please bring your items boxed, plated etc.
Our Baked Table prices will be reflecting our current prices for raw ingredients. This will be our first increase in 5 years for delicious home baked items.
The BBUC Clothing Boutique is getting ready to reopen… Except…We need one key ingredient….YOU!!
We are looking for one or two volunteers who are willing to be responsible for managing the Boutique, with help from other volunteers to get it ready to open in the Fall.
The Boutique manager(s) will need to:
Decide what volunteer help is needed and advertise, in the church and the community, for new volunteers
Go in before the Fall and survey what is there, clean it up and set it up for business (with help from other volunteers as necessary)
Determine when to open the Boutique in the Fall - available days are Mondays (excluding Dorothy's Place and Toby's Place meeting times) and weekends - determining when and how often to be open will be one of the management tasks
Coordinate with Toby’s Place and Dorothy’s Place staff for program access during their meeting times (their staff and/or volunteers will be responsible for staffing and supervision of their participants unless Boutique volunteers are available to assist during their meeting times)
Coordinate the financial arrangements with the Church Treasurer and Church Administrator - eg. arrange for a float, who will count the money, when and by whom it will be deposited to the church account etc.
Coordinate the work of other volunteers to arrange for donation days, pricing and hanging/display of clothing, disposal of unsuitable or out of season donations etc.
Other volunteers could take on one part of this project, all of it, do a couple of things – it is really up to you. What is important to know is that the Boutique is a key source of income for the church and provides sustainable fashion items and housewares to food bank clients as well as clients of Toby’s Place and Dorothy’s Place.
Recycle and reuse!

New Photocopier in the Church
Just a heads-up that we have received a new photocopier in the church but don't panic....all the pass codes and the basics for copying are the same as the old one.
If you have any questions, contact Jane in the church office.
The Ten Thimbles Quilters have decided not to meet as a group with the high numbers of COVID cases right now.
Yet, we still want to have connections with folks, so we decided to organize a chat time through Zoom.
We would like to invite you to share a "Craft and Chat Time" with us, Tuesday from 1:00 - 3:00 by zoom.
Everyone is welcome to join the group to chat. And bring a craft project, if you wish. Or ask for help with your project. Our plan is to meet weekly.
The weekly zoom link is below.
A reminder will also be sent on Tuesdays.
Hope to see you!
The Bluffs Food Bank is OPEN with service to clients on

Due to the ongoing church closure, here are ways you can submit your offerings:
Send an e-transfer from your bank using the finance email address. Contact the church office for information. Money received at this email address is automatically deposited into the church’s bank account. Any amounts received in this way will be included in your tax receipt at year end.
Make your donations using PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance). The United Church of Canada will withdraw an amount you specify from your bank account once each month - typically on the 20th of the month. If you are interested in going on PAR, please complete and sign the PAR authorization form. Send the form, along with a void cheque to the following address: The United Church of Canada, c/o Rose Cambourne, 8 Switzer St., New Lowell, Ontario, L0M 1N0.
Mail a cheque (not cash) or a series of post-dated cheques made payable to Birchcliff Bluffs United Church and stating where the offering is to be distributed (e.g., General), to the church at 33 East Road, Scarborough, ON, M1N 1Z9.
Drop off an envelope with your offering (cheque only, not cash) in the secured mailbox on the front door of the church entrance. Envelopes are retrieved during the week.
Thank you for your ongoing generosity and support during these difficult times.
