What’s the Buzz … tell me what is happening …
What does it mean to love one another?

Do you ever wonder how God speaks or gives messages to people today? The vision of God’s future coming to transform us and the whole world is like a bright thread woven through life’s tapestry.

Jesus sees a new heaven and a new earth when we learn to love one another in the here and now. Our mission as a church, is living in two realms: committed to love each other here and now, but attuned to the future breaking in among us.

Lectionary for This Week

Women in the Bible
Join Rev. Ellen on Zoom,

Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm

2nd Session May 17, 2022

Join Ellen this Tuesday to learn about and to discuss the stories of three pivotal women in the Bible.

It isn’t often women come to the forefront of stories in the Bible.

This is  your opportunity to find out what makes three of these women stand out from the crowd. Each teaches us something different and gives each of us something to reflect on in our own lives.
  • May 17 – Ruth
  • May 24 – Esther
See you there!!

Volunteers Needed for Fall Reopening

BBUC Clothing Boutique

We are looking for one or two volunteers who are willing to be responsible for managing the Boutique, with help from other
volunteers to get it ready to open in the Fall.

The Boutique manager(s) will need to:
  • Decide what volunteer help is needed and advertise, in the church and the community, for new volunteers
  • Go in before the Fall and survey what is there, clean it up and set it up for business (with help from other volunteers as necessary)
  • Determine when to open the Boutique in the Fall - available days are Mondays (excluding Dorothy's Place and Toby's Place meeting times) and weekends - determining when and how often to be open will be one of the management tasks
  • Coordinate with Toby’s Place and Dorothy’s Place staff for program access during their meeting times (their staff and/or volunteers will be responsible for staffing and supervision of their participants unless Boutique volunteers are available to assist during their meeting times)
  • Coordinate the financial arrangements with the Church Treasurer and Church Administrator - eg. arrange for a float, who will count the money, when and by whom it will be deposited to the church account etc.
  • Coordinate the work of other volunteers to arrange for donation days, pricing and hanging/display of clothing, disposal of unsuitable or out of season donations etc.
Other volunteers could take on one part of this project, all of it, do a couple of things – it is really up to you. What is important to know is that the Boutique is a key source of income for the church and provides sustainable fashion items and housewares to food bank clients as well as clients of Toby’s Place and Dorothy’s Place.

Recycle and reuse!

Can you help today?
