"Keep Calm and Pray for Argentina"

Wests to Argentina
learning the language
at the
Rio Grande Bible Institute

Dear Praying Partners,

Thank you for your interest in our ministry and thank you so much for your continuing ministry of prayer on our behalf.  As we have said so many times in the past, it is the thought of your prayer support that encourages us through the challenging times as we prepare for ministry in Argentina. It is sobering and exciting to think that by this time next year, Lord willing, we will be on our way to Argentina.

We are almost three quarters of the way through our first semester. Our brains have been loaded with grammar, phonetics, phonics and many opportunities to be exposed to conversational Spanish. There are many times when we think our heads are going to burst and our tongues are going to go on strike.  However, perseverance is paying off and giving us the opportunity to improve.

One of the important lessons that we are learning (again) is that the official curriculum is only part of the education we are receiving. The Lord is the ultimate multitasker! We came to Rio Grande Bible Institute (RGBI) with loads of expectations and goals. We had preconceived notions of how the process of language acquisition should work. The Lord is teaching us more than Spanish here. We are learning (again) to completely trust the Lord’s plan for us. We are giving our expectations and goals over to Him. We are letting Him have the helm and we are learning (again) to trust what He is doing even if we don’t always understand.  (How many times we have wondered, “What in the world are we doing here?”). It is very important for us to remember that although we are training to be used in the lives of others, God is still at work in us. These are lessons that will help when we arrive in Argentina and start that learning process all over (again).

Thank you for your faithfulness and continued interest in this ministry.

***realizing some gains in our ability.
***opening our eyes and our hearts to see His work in us.
Please pray for:
***our remaining support need ($870/month).
***grace from the Lord as we have much more to learn in order to speak Spanish effectively.
***the work on the facilities of the future seminary.
***the future faculty of the seminary.
***our children to walk with the Lord and make decisions pleasing to Him.
