I took a picture of a tree in bloom today. It was the first one this spring. All the rest of the trees are still trying to crawl out of winter mode, but this particular tree is the first one to herald the coming of flowers, leaves and new fruit. This is one reason I love spring so much. It is a beautiful reminder of the many new beginnings, re-dedications, and new life in our walk with the Lord.
I would like to tell you a story that will illustrate and emphasize another of our very important prayer requests. Last year, in the early fall, we had accomplished a little over two years of full time deputation. Alas, we had only raised about 8% of our support. While our deputation experience has been very positive, the results were, well, uninspiring. At the encouragement of a good friend of ours, we began a prayer initiative that enlisted a number of you to pray for us daily in order to achieve a substantial “bump” in our support. I am happy to share with you that it has pleased the Lord to bring us to 47% of the support needed to get to the field of Argentina. What a thrill it is to see the Lord answer so many prayers. For us it is like that first blooming tree. It is a good start, but it speaks even more to the hope of more to come. This bump has energized us and breathed new life into our deputation efforts for 2015. This is the second of our list of five important prayer requests. Forty seven percent is a good “bump,” however, we will need more than that to get to language school and then to Argentina. Just as sure as the blooming of the rest of nature in the coming weeks, so we believe that God will bless with a steady increase of the means to get to the work in Chivilcoy. We are counting on you, our faithful prayer partners, to keep us before the Lord. Through your prayers we believe we can be in language school next year. How exciting that would be.
Pray on, Partners, pray on.
In His service,
Dave & Patti West
