Does your student play an instrument or like to sing? We are having a band rehearsal at 4:15PM THIS Sunday, February 20 to reintroduce music to our MYF program! This will be a lot of fun – I hope your student can be there! If your student plays guitar, keyboard, bass, percussion/drums, or sings - or if they want to learn, please encourage them to join and let me know to expect them.
We are also introducing two music programs. Matt Headley, our Director of Music and Worship Arts, will be coming to MYF every first Sunday, and we are starting "Family Choir" on fourth Wednesdays from 6-7PM. Parents are invited to this as well! We will rehearse with the choir for one hour following Wednesday Night Supper. Students will have leadership opportunities through these ministries, and they will get to share the joy of music together!
30 HOUR FAMINE: FEBRUARY 26-27!
At 30 Hour Famine, students will learn about local and global poverty. The morning will start with a service project at Community Enabler, we will go to Big Time Entertainment that afternoon, there will be lessons with Pastor Kyle, Jean Smith, and Cheyenne and Katie Mattox throughout the day on Saturday, and we will stay overnight at the church. There will now be an educational, simple meal at dinner time, and kids will have coffee and juice while we are at the church. Students will try foods from impoverished places around the world, and I am sure they will really enjoy it! Caroline and Cheyenne have put something great together.
I am working on a count for this event. Please respond to this email and let me know that your student will be there!
Even if your student cannot be there the whole time, I hope they can spend part of the retreat with us. This is a free event and it is flexible as we are in town – please let me know if your student needs special accommodations.
