Happy 2017 to all our members from Swan Credit Union!
Swan Credit Union is improving its services!
Swan Credit Union is always looking for ways to improve services and speed things up for our members.  As a result we have recently signed up to Docusign which means that members are now able to electronically sign loan agreements and share withdrawals without the need to print, sign and scan. Members can still apply for loans and withdrawals online and we are currently exploring the possibility of an App to be used on mobile device.
Paypoint Cards

We have been informed by the Cooperative bank that it will be discontinuing its relationship with Paypoint.  We are looking into ways of continuing this service or something similar for the future, but in the interim, we are, not issuing any new Paypoint cards.
Date for your diary: Annual General Meeting, Council Chamber, MK Council Offices, MK9 3EJ, at 7 pm on Monday 27 March 2017(refreshments from 6.30).
This is the chance for you to meet the Board and fellow members of your credit union, hear how things are going, and make your views known. Your Board will once again be recommending to the AGM that a dividend be paid to our members in April, this year at 0.75% of average savings.

This year we have lined up a very interesting guest speaker – Robin Peake.  Robin is a charity funded worker living and working on one of the most deprived estates in Oxford. He mainly works with young people to realise their potential to bring change to their community. Seeing the heart-breaking stories behind the statistics has given him ideas about how the lives of people living in disadvantaged communities can be improved, and the part that Credit Unions can play.
Members wishing to stand for election to the Board or Supervisory Committee need to inform the Secretary in writing with signatures by a proposer and a seconder before 13 March 2017.

It is better however if potential candidates are known to the Board in advance. Our policy is therefore to encourage members to start initially as regular volunteers, assisting Board members before standing for election. We would particularly welcome women and ethnic minority candidates. Anyone interested should contact Philip Turnbull, Board Secretary at
Award from Illegal Money Lending team
Great News!! We were awarded a cheque for £700 by the Deputy Major of Milton Keynes David Hopkins for being one of the 5 lucky winners of the 'Your Choice' Scheme.

Local groups were encouraged to bid for cash, which has been confiscated from illegal money lenders, as part of an initiative organised by the England Illegal Money Lending Team. Diane Butler - Expansion and Development Officer - has arranged special 'sign up' days in 7 local areas where people can sign up and join the Credit Union. Adults will receive a mug with MK Community bank on one side and the telephone number on how they can report a loan shark on the other and children will received a MK Community Bank logo piggy bank so they can start saving.
More good news

We are continuing to offer a £25 bonus payment to members for first time loans over £1000 or more. The bonus will be paid into your account after 3 months of regular repayments of the loan.
Why not switch high interest credit card debt to an affordable credit union loan?
According to price comparison website, “people who owe money on credit cards, personal loans and overdrafts have seen their debts increase by more than a third in the past two years as consumer confidence returns, according to latest research.”
See our table below showing how much you could save using a Swan loan instead of your credit card. It could leave you with up to £60 extra per month in your pocket! Based upon a credit card
debit of £3000.
