Upcoming Exhibition: Emma Stibbon

Emma Stibbon: Territories of Print, 1994–2019
9 November–21 December, 2019
Rabley Drawing Center, Marlborough, UK

This exhibition gives insight into Stibbon as 'artist as witness' to our landscape and environments on the cusp of change: polar regions, volcanoes, deserts, tidal edges and cities in transition. Through the alchemy of printmaking Stibbon envelopes us in her experiences with monumental woodcuts and tactile intaglio prints, where volcanic ash is crusted embedded into the printing plate. There is a seriousness that underpins this endeavour, in a combination of craft and emotion that is unflinching, raw and questioning.

Upcoming Exhibition: Alexander Tovborg

Alexander Tovborg: amor fati II
8 November–11 January, 2020
Borch Gallery, Berlin

This exhibition features a series of woodcuts and monotypes centered around the Roman Catholic saint and French national heroine Joan of Arc. The latin expession amor fati (engl. love of fate) describes a state of mind of unconditional acceptance of life’s circumstances. All events – good or bad – are considered predetermined. For Tovborg, Joan of Arc exemplifies this state of mind. The artist's practice draws from such questions through the investigation of religious narratives, myths and symbols. His unique visual universe unfolds in ornamental shapes and rich colour combinations.

Ongoing Exhibition: Women Take the Floor

Women Take the Floor
Through 3 May, 2021
Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Boston

This exhibition challenges the dominant history of 20th-century American art by focusing on the overlooked and underrepresented work and stories of women artists. This reinstallation—or “takeover”—of Level 3 of the Art of the Americas Wing advocates for diversity, inclusion, and gender equity in museums, the art world and beyond. With more than 200 works drawn primarily from the MFA’s collection, the exhibition is organized into seven thematic galleries. Interactive programming creates a dynamic space that welcomes visitor participation, and new rotations of artwork introduced over the run of the exhibition ensure that new voices and perspectives are available on each return visit.

Ongoing Exhibition: Tacita Dean

Tacita Dean: From Depont's Collection
Through 2 February, 2020
De Pont Museum, Tilburg, Netherlands

For more than 20 years, De Pont has been following the work of Tacita Dean. In 1998 she was given a solo exhibition at the museum, and two of her 16mm films were added to the permanent collection: Disappearance at Sea I  (1996) and Der Jungbrunnen (1998). The six works acquired by De Pont between 2001 and 2015–photographs, engravings, drawings, lithographs and another 16mm film, Michael Hamburger (2007)–attest to the diversity of Dean's work. Now for the first time, De Pont will be showing an extensive selection of Tacita Dean's work from the permanent collection in the New Wing.
