Cocktail Grapefruits

Cocktail Grapefruits are grown in the Central Valley of California and are hand picked for the best quality.

Cocktail Grapefruits are exceptionally sweet and juicy. It is a blend of a mandarin and a pummelo (or pomelo). The green color and thick skin of the cocktail grapefruit is presumably from the pomelo side, while the sweet, juicy and less acidic flavor is adopted from the mandarin side. This cocktail grapefruit is much sweeter than the traditional grapefruit. Ripe and ready to eat whether green or yellow.

Available now in house. Sold by the case of 30# or by the pound.

Commodity Alerts

Apples: Washington is extremely short of small sized Golden Delicious and Granny Smith. Large sized Red Delicious supplies are abundant.
Berries (Blackberries): Rain in Central Mexico and California over the past weekend have slowed down production. Supply is limited and quality has been affected with many reports of broken fruit, water damage, soft berries, mold, and decay.
Berries (Strawberries): Supplies are still limited. California is short of supply this week after recent rain. Quality is ranging from fair to good. Quality issues include overripe and soft bruising to green tips, white shoulders and misshapen fruit. While California is still short of supplies, Mexico is increasing their production.
Cauliflower: The cooler weather has halted growth of cauliflower in all growing regions. Quality is an issue with arrivals showing bruising to off-white to creamy color.
Grapes (Green): Domestic green grapes are very limited. Soft berries and amber color is being reported. Chilean grapes will arrive on the west coast by late December.
Lettuce Iceberg: Iceberg lettuce has fully transitioned into Yuma but still two weeks away from starting in the Imperial Valley. Quality continues to suffer and supplies could drop dramatically if cold weather becomes more of an issue.
Lettuce Leaf: Cool weather and continued quality issues indicate potential for a stronger leaf and romaine market. Market price is stable for the time being.
Melon (Cantaloupe): We are in full swing with offshore cantaloupes.
Pears: Bartlett, D’anjou, Bosc, and red pears are all in peak season.
Onions: Onions will be in peak season through February.
Potatoes: Potatoes will be in peak season till late May.

WEATHER:

High pressure builds out west deflecting the storm track to the north through the week. This will bring strong winds (25-45mph) to Southern California and the Desert locals late this week.
